Ilex verticillata
Commonly called “Winterberry”, this is a deciduous holly that is native to Northeastern America, typically growing in low woods and along shallow bodies of water. This is a slow growing shrub, usually topping out at 12 feet in height and 12 feet in width. Greenish – white flowers appear in late spring giving way to bright red berries in late summer and fall. These berries will provide a striking garden visual throughout the winter months and into early spring.
